Position: Animal Tech – Part Time

Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate person to join our urban farm. As an animal tech you will be responsible for the daily feeding, watering, husbandry and care of our livestock under the direction of the urban farm manager. You will be focused on daily upkeep of animal enclosures, vet logs, and helping to administer meds.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with day-to-day operations of the farm’s livestock; including daily feeding, water trough management, egg collection, egg washing & packaging, milking and packing of goat milk, repair of the enclosures, cleaning of the animal living spaces, organization of feed storage and other items.
- Help monitor and manage the overall health of our livestock and report any issues to the Farm Manager.
- Help maintain accurate records of our animals and the vet care they receive.
- Assist with daily feeding and cleaning of livestock on the farm. To include; chickens, pigs, goats, rabbits, and cows.
- Must work well as a team member or alone, in all weather conditions.
- Must have a smart phone to access the farm management app and use Microsoft Office.
- Some weekend/holiday work will be required.
- Help assist with other tasks around the farm as directed by the Farm Manager.
Qualifications:
- Prior work/internship in the agriculture industry is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate. Previous experience with any animal/livestock is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing conditions and situations.
- Possess organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for promoting sustainable agriculture and local food systems.
- Must have a valid driver’s license. Must have a reliable form of transportation to work.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Unassisted.
