Disc Golf

My name is Theo Lach, I’m 16 years old and I’ve playing disc golf for a little over 2 years. The reason that I became interested in this sport was because the Boy Scouts came and put a course in at the Fitness Farm. Since then, I’ve joined the PDGA, become one of the top junior players in the country and travel in tournaments all over the United States. If it wasn’t for the original Fitness Farm course, I probably wouldn’t know what Disc Golf was!

As I became better at the sport, I realized there were a few challenges over at the Fitness Farm course that could be improved. Having proper tee pads, nice baskets and a course layout that allows for multiple groups to play at one time were a few things I wanted to improve. I have collected my ideas for this course layout from playing at different courses around the country. My goal for this course is to provide a place where people of all ages and levels can learn and practice one of the fastest growing sports in the country!

I am grateful to Joan Servaas, the owner of this property, for giving me the opportunity to take on this project. I am working toward earning my Congressional Youth Award Gold medal. This award provides young people the opportunity to achieve personal goals focused on volunteerism, character development and fitness. It’s a fun and interesting way to get more involved in something you already enjoy or something you’d like to try for the first time. The sport of Disc Golf is exploding!
